Payza’s Executive Vice President, Ferhan Patel, and VP of Strategy, Mohammad Hashemi, recently returned from Orlando, Florida, where they attended the 8th annual Prepaid Expo. The 2013 event, held March 4-6, was attended by more than 1700 members of the stored value industry and more than 100 exhibitors.
The Prepaid Expo, the largest and longest-running of its kind, is an annual event which brings people together from all corners of the prepaid and stored value industry to discuss the trends and challenges of the industry in a non-competitive environment. The trend in the 2013 Expo was emerging forms of payment, which are starting to make a major dent in the marketplace.
“E-wallets and mobile commerce are the next big trend, bringing with them a whole new suite of security and regulatory concerns,” said Patel. “The Prepaid Expo is a great way to get a feel for the changing landscape, meet with industry leaders and get a head start on the next step in the evolution of emerging payments.”
The Expo is designed to generate business for the entire community by providing independent market research and an unbiased conference structure. Patel and Hashemi traveled to Orlando to participate in roundtables with industry leaders and speed-networking events to develop new contacts.
The centerpiece of the event was the Paybefore Awards Ceremony. Payza was honored with the Outstanding Newcomer in Prepaid/Emerging Payments award.
“Paybefore Awards recognizes the organizations that use financial services to make people’s lives better, which is why it is so exciting for us to honor those who champion innovation and excellence,” – Marilyn Bochicchio, Paybefore CEO.
Paybefore is the leading provider of information to the prepaid industry. Payza.com was selected from among hundreds of entries from around the world by a panel of five judges, each one an expert in the prepaid and emerging payments industry.
“We’ve accomplished a lot this past year – our first year of operation,” said Patel. “We’re proud that Paybefore has recognized the work we’ve done to bring our payment platform to the underdeveloped marketplaces of the world. What has earned us this award is the accessibility of our platform and our prepaid card in markets where getting basic financial services is difficult.”
