We’re excited about Payza’s new look and enhanced security features! To help you get the most out of your new-look Payza account, this blog series will introduce you to the specifics of the new change, help you navigate the menus, and familiarize you with all the features available to you.
How Payza Keeps You Safe
As one of the fastest-growing payment platforms, we have developed advanced security measures to protect our global customer base from cyber-attacks, especially when it comes to phishing sites and hacking attempts. Our network is protected by a 128-bit SSL encryption system and by the FraudMatrix, Payza’s proprietary, state-of-the-art real-time monitoring platform. The FraudMatrix instantly identifies suspicious activity, stopping would-be fraudsters from accessing your account.
On top of that, our team of professional fraud prevention analysts assess external security threats to our system, and our Compromised Account Prevention program, which combines technology (enhanced security features) with education (regarding the latest cybercrime threats), mitigates potential threats before they occur.
As cybercriminals become more sophisticated, so have their cyberattacks. Earlier this year, we successfully discovered and combatted a variant of the Citadel Trojan specifically targeting Payza users. Citadel was different from a typical phishing scam because rather than infecting Payza or the Payza website, the Trojan worked by attacking individual computers and changing the information users should be seeing on certain websites (known as a ‘Man-in-the-Browser’ threat). The identity thieves attempted to collect information by altering Payza’s actual login page.
As part of our proactive strategy to protect our members, we’ve added an extra level of security by developing the Advanced Security Setup. Your avatar and custom message will greet you whenever you log into your Payza account, and you’ll also be asked to set up challenge questions that confirm your identity when you log in from an unfamiliar device. This 2-step authentication process provides a visual confirmation that you have reached the secure Payza website and it confirms that although you are logging in from a new device, you are the true account holder. “They are at the core of these prevention measures,” explains Brent Bisaillion, Payza’s UX Architect. “These enhanced security features allow for the member to verify the site they are about to log into, which effectively reduces the threat of phishing.”
How You Can Do Your Part
We’ve put a lot of security measures in place, but teamwork is the key to maintaining a secure account – Payza users still have to do their part in keeping their login and account details confidential. We will protect all your information in our system, but if users give their information away themselves, then their accounts can be compromised. You should never reveal any personal information publicly, on Facebook or any other social media platforms. So DO NOT SHARE your avatar image or welcome message! You should treat your avatar and welcome message like a password, but in this case, Payza presents the password to you and not the other way around.
If you suspect any suspicious sites, emails or transactions or spot a phishing site or email targeting Payza members, we encourage you to contact Customer Support right away and file a report on the Payza Security Center page.
Creating Your Own Avatar
Follow these easy steps to get started:
- Log into your Payza account.
- Click on ‘Set Up Advanced Security’ on the right-hand side of your profile.
- Enter a custom message to be displayed.
- Now you’re ready to make your mini-me! Click on ‘Edit Avatar’.
- You can customize the gender, hair and skin tones, head , body and legs of your avatar.
- Now you are ready for step 2. Set up at least 3 question-and-answer pairings. You can add up to 6 question-and answer pairings.
- Once you have completed both steps, click ‘Set Up Security’ to save your settings. You’ll need to finish both steps to complete the extra-security layer, so if you don’t have time to finish both steps, simply click ‘Cancel and do this later’ to finish another time.
